EU Leaders Issue Strong Warning: Airspace and Territory Integrity 'Will Not Be Tolerated'

Describing recent violations as "a provocation" and "a hybrid threat, which we cannot tolerate," she underscored the bloc's commitment to strengthening its defense readiness. Von der Leyen highlighted ongoing work on the EU's "readiness roadmap" and new defense initiatives, including the "Eastern flank watch" and the "drone wall".

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, hosting the summit, stated the Nordic countries take "full responsibility for our own security". Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen characterized the situation as Europe facing "the greatest threat since World War II," warning that Russia is attempting to "divide and weaken European societies," but firmly added, "they shall know that they will never succeed".
