October 30, 2025 - Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Russian State Duma's International Affairs Committee, announced that parliamentary dialogue between Russia and the United States could be resumed in the near future. "Let us not offend our partners in the strategic dialogue, which, I am confident, will be continued in the near future. And we will work, including in the area of parliamentary diplomacy... Dialogue in this area could very well be resumed in the near future," Slutsky stated.
Commenting on U.S. President Donald Trump's recent instructions to the Pentagon to resume nuclear weapons testing, Slutsky asserted Russia's military superiority, noting, "We possess all modern weapon systems at a level not of the present, but perhaps of the next century". He characterized Trump's move as potential "muscle-flexing" but questioned its intended audience given Russia's advanced capabilities. This exchange highlights ongoing tensions between the two nations while indicating a potential channel for diplomatic re-engagement.
