Apple introduced the M1 Ultra, its most powerful custom silicon to date, during a March product event. The chip integrates two M1 Max dies using Apple’s proprietary UltraFusion packaging technology, creating a unified system-on-chip with enhanced performance and efficiency.

According to the company, the M1 Ultra delivers up to 80% faster CPU performance than the highest-end PC chips while consuming significantly less power. It supports up to 128GB of unified memory and features a 64-core GPU capable of handling intensive tasks such as 3D rendering and 4K video production. The announcement underscores Apple’s ongoing transition to in-house silicon, moving away from third-party processors.

By controlling both hardware and software design, Apple strengthens its ecosystem and positions itself competitively in high-performance computing and professional creative markets.
