Data released by Eurostat on November 14, 2025, showed that the European Union achieved a trade surplus of €104.3 billion for the period from January to September 2025. The EU's total external trade during this period amounted to €3,869.1 billion, with exports reaching €1,986.7 billion (a 3.0% year-on-year increase) and imports totaling €1,882.4 billion (a 3.6% increase). Trade among EU member states, a key indicator of internal market strength, grew by 2.1% to €3,082.8 billion.

The euro area specifically recorded a surplus of €128.7 billion, with its exports and imports rising by 3.1% to €2,204.2 billion and 3.6% to €2,075.5 billion, respectively. Intra-euro area trade also increased by 1.7%, reaching €1,961.6 billion, underscoring the continued role of the internal market as a cornerstone of economic stability amidst global trade tensions.
