On December 10, 2025, China’s permanent mission to the United Nations in New York announced the launch of the “Friends of Global Governance” group, an initiative designed to enhance international cooperation on major global governance issues. According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, the group’s founding meeting garnered support from 43 member states, which jointly issued a declaration reaffirming commitments to multilateralism, strengthening the role of the United Nations, and addressing shared global challenges.
The initiative reflects Beijing’s effort to elevate its diplomatic engagement on worldwide governance frameworks, amplify cooperation with like-minded partners, and contribute to international peace and development through structured multilateral channels.
