India Hosts Major Global AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Advancing AI Governance and Cooperation

From February 16 to 20, 2026, India hosted the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, marking the first time a major international artificial intelligence summit was held in a Global South nation. The event brought together representatives from more than 90 countries and international organizations, including heads of state, policymakers and leaders from major technology companies, to address global AI governance, ethical frameworks, and collaborative development.

Delegates engaged in discussions on how artificial intelligence can drive inclusive growth, support public services, and contribute to sustainable development, culminating in the adoption of a joint declaration outlining shared principles such as democratizing AI resources, fostering secure and trustworthy systems, and promoting equitable access to technological benefits.
