Austin, Feb. 3, 2026 — SpaceX and xAI completed a merger valuing the combined entity at about $1.25 trillion. The transaction combines SpaceX’s launch business and Starlink satellite internet network with xAI’s large-model technology, marking a deeper integration between the space industry and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
SpaceX has long held advantages in commercial launch and low-Earth-orbit satellite networks, while xAI has developed artificial intelligence products including Grok. After the merger, the company will control strategic assets across orbital communications, data transmission, AI models and future computing infrastructure.
Markets viewed the deal as expanding the boundaries of Musk’s technology empire while opening new possibilities for AI infrastructure. In the future, satellite networks may become an important component of AI data transmission and global connectivity.
The merger also shows that the next generation of technology giants may not be traditional internet companies, but integrated platforms combining space, communications, artificial intelligence and hardware manufacturing.
